偶然から生まれた、一つ一つが違うカタチでできたアクリル製のオブジェ、もしくは花器。
Born of randomness, each and every one of these acrylic objects and flower vases has its own unique shape.
「たったひとつだけのものを、量産する。」
というプロダクトデザイナー小宮山洋の考え方を、金型作家 室島満がカタチにしていく
「mold」というリサーチプロジェクトから生まれた「Gravity」。
"Gravity" refers to the random shapes
that are created when uni form,
injection-molded acrylic bottles are
"dropped" from the ceiling to the
ground while in a heated state.
「射出成型によってできた同じ形状のアクリル樹脂製のボトルを、熱を持った状態のまま天井から地面に「落とす」ことで生まれる偶発的なカタチ。
大量生産のプロセスに自然の現象を一つ加えることで、たった一つだけのモノを量産することをテーマとしています。
By adding one random and natural step
to the mass-production process,
the theme is to mass-produce
one-of-a-kind objects.
射出成型のベースとなるボトル形状は、
大量生産の象徴的な存在であるペットボトルをモチーフにしており、
任意に抽出された数十の既存のペットボトルの外形を抽出した後にそれらをモーフィングし3Dデータ化を行っています。
天井から地面に落とす高さや強さは、それを落とす職人の日々の気持ちとイコールで、おだやかな気持ちの時にはおだやかな形状に。 興奮状態の時にはボトル自体も興奮した形状に。この偶然によってできたボトルは、同じ構造を持ちながら違う個性を持った人間のようです。
The shapes of the bottles, which are the base for the injection molding process, have been designed to resemble PET bottles, which symbolize mass-production.
Several dozen existing PET bottles are selected randomly, and their ext eriors are scanned and morphed into 3D data.
The height and strength with which the bo ttles are dropped from the ceiling to the ground depends largely on the feelings of the craftsman who drops them gentle feelings result in gentle shapes, and excite d feelings result in bottles with excited shapes.
These bottles that are shaped according to chance are like humans that have different personalities while being of the same basic structur.
